Taylor Smith serves as the president of Suite 200 Solutions.

Suite 200 Solutions, like two prior businesses that Taylor founded, has a core mission — to improve how claims organizations, law firms, and service and technology firms conduct their business more effectively.

Currently, Taylor’s practice focuses extensively on assisting the insurance defense industry match the plaintiff bar’s rapid adoption of AI and technology. His work with SigmaSight AI and other companies informs the industry’s critical need to combat social inflation, nuclear verdicts, and legal system abuse, and empowers both claim professionals and the defense bar to negotiate more effectively to better outcomes.

Historically, Taylor’s practice has focused on issues relating to legal spend and vendor management, law firm - carrier relationships, market intelligence studies, talent acquisition needs, sales and marketing effectiveness, and other operational areas of opportunity for industry providers, law firms, and claims and litigation executives.

From 2017-2022 Taylor served as a Chancellor of the CLM’s industry-leading Litigation Management Institute (LMI). He also served as a Dean in the CLM’s School of Litigation Management from 2020 to 2023 . He continues to co-instruct the LMI’s Litigation Management Metrics course, and has taught the Communications Styles course in the CLM Claims College School of Leadership.

Taylor’s articles have appeared in Insurance Thought Leadership, CLM Magazine, Carrier Management, Claims MagazineClaims Advisor Magazine, Property Casualty 360, AM Best ReviewNational Underwriter, The DRI’s For the Defense magazine, and Litigation Management Magazine.  

Since 2012, Taylor has performed and authored the industry-leading CLM Studies, which examine the thinking, challenges, and opportunities of insurance litigation executives and the defense firms they work with. He conducted the CLM Litigation Management Studies of 2012, 2015, 2019, and 2023, and the CLM Defense Counsel Studies of 2020 and 2024.

Prior to founding his own business, Taylor held various executive positions with ePolicy Solutions, CT TyMetrix (now WK ELM), CaseKnowledge, and CaseRev. In these roles, he developed high levels of expertise in litigation management, spend management, collaborative litigation software, vendor management, and other initiatives important to insurance and legal executives.

As a claims professional, Taylor served in various roles at MMI Companies (previously the nation’s second-largest healthcare facility underwriter), Norcal Mutual and CNA Insurance Companies.

Taylor received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in New York City, and attended Boston College Law School.
